First grade students enjoy painting these lovely silk flowers in a landscape. This idea came from Laura at Paintedpaper. For this lesson, we studied the works of French Impressionist--Claude Monet. We used Google Earth to "take a magic carpet ride" to Monet's house and gardens in Giverny. Students loved watching a video of Monet's garden! The lesson also incorporated some science. Students named the parts of a plant and discussed what plants need to grow. Discovery Education, Pebble Go, and various apps were also utilized in the lesson.
