Second graders are learning about American artist Alexander Calder and his art. Mr. Calder invented the mobile! Creating geometric shapes from neon colored papers, students are putting together mobiles for us to hang in the front lobby. Look for these moving sculptures to be on display just in time for the beginning of the new school year. Reference source: Denise Logan deniseloganart.com

First graders are going on "Texture Hunts" this month in art class. They are learning that textures are all around us and that every thing you see and touch has a texture. Texture is an element of art. Below are photos taken during some of the hunts. Students are collecting textures off of various items and then using those texture cards to make a texture collage. Their texture collages are very creative and imaginative! We had a huge crowd gather for the two Fine Arts Nights held at our school last month! Thank you parents for coming to this arts event. We appreciate so much all the donation funds received for the arts programs! Below are just a few pictures from both nights. The students have done a fabulous job this year in art and I am so proud of them...we have had fun learning. The classroom teachers did a great job displaying their art in the halls and in their room for our Fine Arts Event. The music program, featuring our Youth Art Month theme on "BIRDS" was outstanding! The A.P.S. faculty, staff, and parent volunteers were awesome in helping to make Y.A.M. a success. Thanks to all!! |
