First grade students enjoyed learning about the art element -LINE. Students observed lines in natural objects, man-made things, and in works of art. Then using various media, they created a book of lines. They were challenged to search for more lines to add to their book for homework. Several classes also used paper strips to build line sculptures. Learning how to manipulate paper to make curving lines, zig zag lines, twisting lines, and spirals was cool! As a culminating activity to the lesson, several classes used ribbons to make different kinds of lines float and move in the air as they danced to "line" music. What fun! |
