Classes in art have been learning about the French artist--Henri Matisse and his cut-outs. Below are some pictures of students at work on their collages. Students observed and drew the contours of objects from nature as inspiration for their cut-outs. After completing their artwork, art centers were made available for them to explore more about Matisse and his work. Miss McFarland, our student intern, designed a "Matisse game" for one of the centers. Students have enjoyed working under the direction of UAB Intern--Miss McFarland this fall. These lessons reflect their study of fall leaves and trees. Check out these expressive faces our second grade students created with construction paper.
